Men rescued after boat flips near Browns Point

TACOMA, Wash. — Two men were rescued from the waters near Browns Point in the north Tacoma area after their boat overturned.

The boat overturned near the Tyee Marina.

Tacoma’s new fire boat, Destiny, was used to rescue the men who had been in the water for some time, officials said.

Video from Chopper 7 showed two men wrapped in blankets.  One was being helped by police and medics.

Both men were able to walk on their own and appeared to be OK.

The Destiny’s crew is trying to keep the vessel, which is sinking, from going all the way under.

Crews are working to secure  it so it can be towed to shore.

Details about the type and size of the boat are not yet known.
