The King County Sheriff’s deputy who was involved in a fatal crash after suffering a medical emergency while driving has died, a source confirmed to KIRO 7.

Deputy Reggie Thomas was driving down Airport Way South in the midst, his family says, of a massive stroke. He drove into three parked vehicles. Sarah Leyrer was in her car at the time of the crash and died at the scene, police say.

Thomas died Monday around 3 a.m. after fighting for his life for a week at Harborview Medical Center. He was a 30 year veteran of the department and on the verge of retiring.
