Homeless man arrested in vicious beatings at Federal Way apartments

Neighbors say they’re stunned and scared after two people were viciously attacked at a Federal Way apartment complex.

The victims were just going about their business at the Arbor Woods Apartments when they were attacked without warning.

Police said the suspect is a 28-year-old homeless man. The apartment complex is surrounded by woods.

Chan Park said he was horrified when he came by the apartments on Monday and found his friend covered in blood a few feet away from where he lives.

“I was shocked … I was shocked … I got no time to call 911 … I just picked him up,” said Park.

Park showed KIRO 7 where the attack happened. The spot was still covered in blood. Friends of the victim said the scene shows how relentless and violent the attacker was.

“It was horrible,” said Park.

Park’s friend wasn’t the only victim. Police said a 61-year-old neighbor was attacked by the same suspect hours later.

Neighbor Kyung Mi Lee said she helplessly watched the attack from her porch.

“I was so scared,” said Lee.

Lee said though the victim was already lying face-down on the ground in a pool of his own blood, the attacker wouldn’t stop kicking him.

Police said the man’s injuries to his face are so severe that he could die.

Lee said she’s terrified by the back-to-back attacks, and though the suspect was arrested, all she wants to do now is move.

“I have to move now. I actually saw (the beating). I can’t handle it,” said Lee.

Police said they’re still trying to determine a motive. Both victims are Korean, and residents want to know if that was a factor in the attacks.

One of the victims was released Tuesday night, but the 61-year-old man remains at Harborview.
