Woman missing since Christmas found dead in Mount Vernon

Alana Taylor

MOUNT VERNON, Wash. — A woman who had been missing since Christmas was found dead in Mount Vernon on Monday afternoon.

Mount Vernon PD put out a missing person alert earlier in the day on Christmas for 42-year-old Alana Taylor. She was believed to have left her home voluntarily, but the behavior was “out of character” and “unusual” for her.

It’s unknown if she was taking her medication, and she may have been experiencing a mental health crisis.

Then, at around 1:40 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 5, deputies with Skagit County responded to an area off Francis Road for a death investigation.

The person found matched the description of Taylor, and the county coroner confirmed the body belonged to her.

Officials confirmed that her family has been notified.

It’s unclear how far from her home she was found.

The coroner will determine the manner and cause of death.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that would assist investigators is asked to call the 24-hour dispatch information number (360) 428-3211 or call Mount Vernon Police during business hours at (360) 336-6271.
