Former Seattle Storm player Sue Bird honors local immigrant activist at Kraken game

SEATTLE — At Saturday’s Kraken game against the Dallas Stars, former Seattle Storm player and 4-time Woman National Basketball Association Champion, Sue Bird honored the work of a local activist, said the Seattle Kraken in a news release.

“Sahar Fathi is a gifted organizer, attorney, and longtime advocate for immigrants,” said the release.

Her efforts support basic human rights for Iranian women.

Bird got Kraken fans on their feet as she honored Fathi at the game.

“We stand with those women and their fight,” said Bird.

The Kraken donated $32,000 to support Fathi’s work.

The Kraken’s next home game is Monday against the Dallas Stars, where they will celebrate Pride Night.
