SEATTLE — Flames erupted at a homeless encampment on South Dearborn Street under I-5 in Seattle, blocking all lanes between 8th Avenue South and 10th Avenue South.
>>New initiative could force Seattle to fund homeless housing and treatment, then clear encampments
Traffic was even diverted on southbound I-5 because of the fire and there was a long backup.
Washington State Patrol troopers said there were reports of explosions.
Firefighters put out the fire, and no one was hurt.
A KIRO 7 crew at the scene captured some visible damage to the overpass pillars, which a Washington State Department of Transportation crew inspected for damage.
