Ferndale murder suspect arrested in Arizona

FERNDALE, Wash. — A man wanted in connection to a shooting in Ferndale that left a man dead was arrested in Arizona on Friday, according to a press release from the Ferndale Police Department.

The license plate of a vehicle believed to be driven by Miguel Angel Miranda was picked up by an automated reader outside Kingsman, Arizona, which alerted Ferndale police.

Using information on possible addresses of known associated to Miranda in the Phoenix area, detectives spotted Miranda and took him into custody.

The vehicle was later located in Ogden, Utah.

Shortly after midnight on Jan. 23, Ferndale police responded to a report of a shooting at a large party.

Officers found a man on the ground who had sustained two gunshot wounds.

The man was transported to a hospital and later died from his injuries.

An arrest warrant was issued for Miranda in connection with the shooting.

Police are seeking information about two witnesses to the shooting, Jimmy Abitia and Michael Archouletta.
