Fans beyond excited as Kraken head to playoffs, but ticket prices may keep them home

SEATTLE — The Seattle Kraken are headed to the Stanley Cup playoffs for the first time in franchise history.

With just two seasons under the team’s belt, fans are beyond excited to see this young team succeed.

“There’s really no stopping them. We’ve beaten the best teams this year and we can beat the rest,” said Kraken fan Aaron Davidson.

Thursday night’s game against the Vegas Golden Knights, who came out on top 3 - 1, was the last game in the regular season.

“What they’ve been able to do in a short period of time is pretty phenomenal. I think it says a lot to the coaching, and a lot to the management to put together a team that’s doing this well,” said fan Marty Schulte.

Playoff tickets went on sale a week ago, but fans had challenges trying to purchase them. At one point, 2,000 people were trying to get tickets at the same time.

“It is difficult. I have a few friends that have season tickets and I know there’s quite the demand for them,” said Schulte.

As for the lucky ones who were able to get their hands on some tickets, they came at a steep price with tickets for game one starting at $250.

Regardless of being at the game in person or watching from home, fans have one message for the team.

“Make us proud,” said Davidson.

Seattle will open the playoffs next week against either Dallas or Colorado.

It all depends on the outcome of Friday’s game between the Avalanche and Predators in Nashville.
