Everett burglary suspect shot and killed by homeowner

EVERETT, Wash. — Everett police are investigating after a homeowner fatally shot a burglar.

Officers were called to a home in the 1600 block of 126th Street SE just south of Silver Lake at 4:50 a.m. Thursday. The homeowner told 911 dispatchers he shot someone inside his house.

Police arrived to find a wounded man inside the home and started giving him emergency first aid. Everett Fire medics arrived and tried to save the man’s life, but he was declared dead.

Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit said they found evidence the suspect broke into the home and entered a room that contained guns.

When the homeowner awoke to sounds in his house, he confronted the intruder and shot him.

The homeowner is in his 70s and the suspect who was killed is in his 30s.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the suspect’s identity.
