Dozens displaced after fire at Federal Way apartment building

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — Dozens of people were displaced and one person was injured after a fire early Sunday at a Federal Way apartment building.

The fire happened just after midnight at the Mountain Sun Apartments, located at 1747 S. 30th Place in Federal Way.

South King Fire & Rescue officials responded to the one-alarm fire and rescued one person from the building. The person was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Fire officials said the building is older and lacked sprinklers, allowing the fire to spread.

Red Cross Northwest is working to find housing for the 20 adults and six children displaced by the fire. An additional seven adults and two children might also need assistance finding housing.
