Driver shot, killed by deputy in Bothell after pursuit

SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. — A man was shot and killed by a Snohomish County Sheriff's deputy after a high-speed chase late Tuesday night.

Deputies were called to a disturbance just south of Martha Lake near 196th Place Southwest and Sixth Drive Southeast around 10:15 p.m.

As deputies arrived, a man believed to be involved in the disturbance fled the scene in a pickup truck.

A high-speed pursuit began. During the pursuit, deputies tried to stop the pickup using the PIT maneuver several times.

The driver stopped near Filbert Road and North Road near Bothell and shots were fired by a deputy. The driver was struck. A woman who was a passenger was uninjured.

No deputies were hurt.

The driver was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where he was pronounced dead. He has only been identified as a man in his mid-20s.

The passenger, a woman in her 20s, is being questioned by authorities.

It is not clear if she was involved in the disturbance or if she will face any charges.

The Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team is investigating.

As of 2 a.m., the intersection remains closed.
