Authorities across western Washington to participate in emergency response training exercise

SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. — First responders across western Washington will be participating in a regional aircraft emergency response training exercise on Tuesday.

The training is meant to help local emergency responders prepare for a potential real-world earthquake or tsunami disaster response.

Training exercises will take place at several locations, including the Arlington Municipal Airport and Providence Regional Medical Center Everett.

Participating agencies include the Snohomish, King and Pierce County sheriff’s departments, Washington State Patrol, U.S. Navy, FBI and Customs Border Patrol.

First responders will practice scenarios including water rescues, high-rise rescues, K-9 building searches, aerial surveys, as well as rescue team and equipment transports.

Residents living near areas where the training is taking place may hear warning announcements or see emergency vehicles, boat activity and low-flying aircraft while the exercises are conducted.
