After 7 months, some local movie theaters reopening Friday

SEATTLE — After being closed for more than 7 months, some local movie theaters are opening their doors.

Select AMC and Cinemark movie theaters throughout the state will reopen Friday.

The theaters will reopen with 25% capacity under Gov. Jay Inslee’s revised phase 2 guidelines.

Theater employees are required to wear masks and both chains have enhanced cleaning processes and safety measures in place. Guests are required to wear masks except while eating and drinking.

Cinemark will open theaters in Federal Way, Bellevue, Tacoma and Walla Walla.

  • Cinemark Grand Cinemas (formerly Hallett Grand Cinemas 12)

AMC is opening 14 of its 15 theaters statewide.

AMC’s choice to reopen comes almost a week after Regal Theaters closed all its locations for the foreseeable future.
