2 children in toy Jeep hit by suspected DUI driver in Kent

KENT, Wash. — A driver is suspected of driving under the influence when deputies said he hit a toy Jeep with children inside in Kent.

The crash happened Tuesday near the 19800 block of Southeast 281st Street.

Deputies said a 3-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy were in a Barbie Jeep on a residential street when a driver crashed his pick-up truck into a mailbox and then into the Jeep.

The two children were taken to Harborview Medical Center.

The girl is serious in ICU and the boy has non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators said the driver, a 26-year-old man, drove for about half a mile with the Jeep wedged under the truck.

The children were out of the Jeep by then.

The driver was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence and two counts of vehicular assault.
