Aberdeen, Wash. — Surveillance video at an Aberdeen bus stop shows a dramatic confrontation involving a man with a sword.

Aberdeen police tell KIRO-7 a Westport man was waiting for a bus in downtown Aberdeen when a car came up and parked in the bus zone. The video shows the man approaching the car as several people get out of the vehicle. Aberdeen police Capt. John Green said: "They are confronted by our victim saying you can't park her. My bus is gonna park here I'm waiting for the bus and you gotta go." The request did not go over well. Moments later one of the men from the car can be seen on the video pulling out a sword, swinging it around and chasing the bus rider down the street, but he never actually hit the victim. Green said it's "pretty serious, pretty alarming. We're just really happy with how it turned out it could have been much worse."

"Oh my gosh," said Crystal Curtiss when KIRO-7 showed her the video as she waited at the same bus stop. She said its amazing nobody was hurt. "It's horrible and that's sad because there's kids here every single day," Curtiss said.

After the initial confrontation, the man with the sword can be seen on the video returning to his car and driving away, but not before the victim got a look at the suspect's license plate, a transit employee came out to call 911 and reported the sword attack. Bus rider Jason Valentine just shook his head as KIRO-7 reporter Richard Thompson showed him video of the sword attack. Valentine summed it up: "That's stupid. Somebody needs to go to jail for that."

Aberdeen police have identified the man with the sword but he has not been arrested. Detectives told KIRO-7 they need to re-interview the victim but are having difficulty finding him.
