Illegal mover, subject of KIRO 7 investigation, arrested in Tukwila

TUKWILA, Wash. — Jeff Johnson, the subject of a KIRO 7 investigation in December, has been arrested in Tukwila.

Tukwila police officers arrested him as he was planning another move, with officers posing as potential clients.

Our story helped lead police to arrest Johnson on allegations that he was disappearing with people's items.

Our cameras were there as police arrested him on outstanding warrants and theft charges.

KIRO 7's Rob Munoz first reported two months ago on Johnson's illegal moving service, claiming that he cheated a former Seattle man out of $39,000 worth of goods.

Patrick Fuller hired a moving company that subcontracted the job, eventually landing the move with Johnson, who was supposed to take Fuller's possessions to Scotland.

Instead, KIRO 7 discovered that Johnson has been operating illegally as a mover in the state of Washington for at least a year.

He lacks the proper permits, and the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission said he has received numerous complaints.

We tracked down Fuller's items, and found out that they were sold to a Kirkland comic book store.

Some of the estimated $39,000 worth of goods were pawned for $75.

Johnson will be booked into the King County Jail to await his arraignment hearing.
