The Ferry Tacoma was pushed into the Port of Seattle after it suffered some kind of propulsion issue in the middle of its trip from Bainbridge Island Friday afternoon.
Passengers told KIRO 7 that the captain said there was a power failure as the boat slowed down preparing to dock.
The 4:40 p.m. and 6:20 p.m. ferry to Bainbridge was canceled; the 5:30 p.m. and 7:10 p.m. to Seattle was canceled.
The Tacoma just got back to regular service. It resumed sailing March 28 after losing power and stranding passengers in the middle of the Puget Sound last July.
It was out for repairs for months.
Crews had to replace the vessels' electrical switchboard system.
"To go out of service again is just crazy,” said passenger Darren FitzGerald, a passenger. "It makes me lose faith in Washington State Ferries. If they put a boat in service and it loses power again.”
Chopper 7 was overhead Friday as tugboats pulled ferry Tacoma to Colman Dock.
As traffic backed up, WS Ferries announced they would send a separate ferry--the Issaquah--from the Fauntleroy Vashon Southworth route to help passengers in Seattle.
That added delays out of West Seattle.
By Saturday afternoon, the ferry was back in service. The ferry 'Tacoma' returned to service with the 3:45 pm sailing from Seattle to Bainbridge after necessary repairs were made, according to officials.
