Crews continue to battle the wildfires burning in the Wenatchee River Complex and officials have released updated evacuation levels on Sunday morning.
Incident Commander Jeff Pendleton released a statement with the updated evacuation levels.
Canyons Fire:
Homes in the Castle Heights area, including those on Kings Court Road, Castle Heights Drive, a portion of Linville Drive and Queens Court Road that were at Evacuation Level 3 have been reduced to Evacuation Level 1 due to successful burnout operations completed between Number One and Number Two Canyons over the last several days. Number Two Canyon road west of Castle Heights Drive and Stiss Canyon Road will continue to be on Evacuation Level 3. The roadblock is now located just west of Castle Heights Drive.
Poison Canyon Fire:
Due to fire activity at the bottom of Tripp Canyon, the evacuation level of Mission Creek Road from the intersection with Tripp Canyon Road up to the Tree Farm will be increased from Level 2 to Level 3, affecting approximately 18 homes. Chelan County Sheriff’s Deputies are in the process of notifying residents of this change. To provide an adequate turnaround, the road block on Mission Creek Road is at the Coates Road junction north of the closed area. The area between the road block and Tripp Canyon is not under an evacuation order at this time. Only property owners will be allowed beyond the barricade.
Byrd Canyon Fire:
The evacuation level of homes in Johnson Creek Road off of the Navarre Coulee Road has been reduced from a Level 3 to a Level 2. Firefighters have made significant progress containing the Byrd Canyon Fire, though residents still need to be vigilant in case fire activity should unexpectedly increase in the area.
Level 1, 2 and 3 evacuation status is a “Ready, Set, Go” level of evacuation notices.
Level 1 tells residents to be ready to evacuate if conditions change, Level 2 means residents should be set to go at a moment’s notice and Level 3 means authorities are advising residents to evacuate because their homes are in imminent danger.
On Sunday evening, a public meeting will be held at the Town Toyota Center at 7 p.m. to discuss about the fires.
