Electrical pole catches on fire, snaps, causes outage in Tacoma

TACOMA, Wash. — An electrical pole caught on fire, snapped and caused a power outage Saturday morning, according to the Tacoma Fire Department.

Tacoma fire received a call around 10:15 a.m. of an electrical pole on fire in the area of North 6th and Mildred Street.

When crews arrived, the fire was put out.

In addition to the pole catching on fire, it snapped about 10 to 12 feet from the top.

The incident caused a significant power outage in the main business corridor towards the Narrows Bridge.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
