Disturbed man, possibly carrying machete, missing from Mason County

The Mason County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a disturbed man who may be carrying a machete and was reported missing by family members.

Family members told police on Tuesday that Steven Daniel Lawrence walked away his home in the 100 block of North Jorsted Creek Road in Lilliwaup with $150 cash, some food and may have been carrying a machete.

His family said he left a note stating that he “is not committing suicide,” that he is “in a constant battle in his head,” and that he is “going to Milwaukee to have a face-to-face with the director of the FBI.”

Family members said they believe that Steven may have some mental issues because he hears voices in his head.

Lawrence is described as white, 41, 5 feet 9 inches tall, 175 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a blue T-shirt, brown leather shoes and a black Carhartt jacket.
