The man who tried to abduct a 3-year-old boy earlier this month in White Center may also be responsible for an another attempted abduction Saturday night on the same street.

In the latest incident, the suspect attempted to enter a bedroom window of a house in the 10400 block of Third Avenue Southwest shortly after 10 p.m.

Priscilla Pliego tells KIRO 7 she left her bedroom for just a  minute, while her 14 month old son was asleep on the bed.

“When I turned around all I saw was this hand opening up the screen to my room and I screamed and grabbed my son and ran to the living room,“ Pliego said.

Her step father, Alfredo Ma, jumped out the window and chased the suspect.

“I think he needs to get caught before he does end up taking a kid,” Ma said.

Ma lost his trail near Southwest 106th Street and Second Avenue Southwest

The suspect was wearing a grey hoodie and tan shorts.

When deputies arrived in the area they saw a red Mazda pickup truck driving quickly out of the area, King County Sergeant Cindi West said. When the deputies tried to stop it, a woman exited the vehicle sped away.

“The vehicle crashed a short distance away and the suspect fled on foot,” West said. “The suspect was wearing clothes that matched those of the burglary suspect and was described as ‘tall and skinny.’”

The Mazda pickup had been stolen from Seattle on May 31.

The previous attempted abduction happened June 2 on Third Avenue Southwest. In that case, deputies said the suspect tried to abduct a 3-year-old boy from his yard, but his mother fought the attacker.

That mother, Melissa Hines, said Tuesday night, “It’s very creepy. It makes it seem like maybe he knows the neighborhood, knows who has children in the neighborhood.”

The two incidents are just two doors apart.

“We don’t know for sure but we are concerned someone is out there trying to take a child,” said King County deputy B.J. Myers.

Pliego is concerned the man will keep trying, “Guys like this don’t stop doing what they’re doing. They’re going to come out and keep doing what they’re doing. What they’re trying to do is get a kid.”

The man in the earlier case was about 6 feet tall and skinny. He wore a full mask, dark gloves and all black clothing, including a tight dark shirt, dark pants and dark shoes.

Detectives went door to door warning residents about the abduction attempts, also hoping someone might have information that could help them make an arrest.
