Police: Sister bites brother, causes standoff

SEATTLE — A standoff began in North Seattle after a report of gunshots that turned out to be a fight between siblings that didn't involve weapons.

Police said dozens of officers went to the home on Northwest 90th Street overnight with guns drawn after police received a 911 call from someone inside the house that said shots had been fired by a male family member.

After asking the people in the home to come outside several times, negotiators approached the house using a bulletproof shield and went inside.

Police said the report of shots fired turned out to be false, and no gun was found inside the house.

Investigators said the incident stemmed from a fight between a brother and sister in which the brother was bitten, punched and suffered cuts to his face.

The 40-year-old man was taken to Harborview and his 33-year-old sister was arrested and booked into the King County Jail at 4:30 a.m. for investigation of assault.
