Police: Woman followed by nude sunbather in Arlington

ARLINGTON, Wash. — A man who was seen sunbathing nude in public three times was arrested on indecent exposure and stalking charges after a woman said he followed her.

Police said a woman called officers on Tuesday saying she had been at the 6600 block of Dike Road with her dog when she heard someone clear their throat, and then noticed a man standing in the bushes naked and staring at her.

The woman said she left and called police, but the man was not found.

On Thursday, the woman said she was at Blue Stilly Park with her dog when she was approached by the same man, but he was fully clothed.

The woman said she didn’t realize the man was the same man she had seen naked on Tuesday, but as they talked about photography, he suddenly said he liked to sunbathe nude.

The woman told police she explained to the man that she thought it was OK to be nude in your own back yard, but not at a public park, where children could be.

The man asked the woman if an SUV was her car and she said yes, and then continued to walk her dog.

At that point, the woman realized the man was the same person she had seen standing nude in the bushes on Tuesday, a Snohomish County police report said.

The woman said when she got to the end of the park, she looked back and saw the man lying down fully nude.

When the woman went to leave, the man approached her and asked her if he was making her uncomfortable.  She told him she had to pick up her children so she could quickly leave, the report said.

The woman then drove to the 6600 block of Dike Road to walk her dog, which is a considerable distance from the park, sheriff’s deputies said.

After being there for a short time, she noticed the man was sitting on the sand naked while facing her, police said. As she walked to her car to leave, he walked about seven feet from her, the report said.

The woman called officers and said she believed the man had followed her and purposefully parked next to her vehicle.

Police responded and arrested the man for investigation of stalking and three counts of indecent exposure.

He was booked into the Snohomish County Jail.
