Death outside sheriff’s precinct linked to woman found dead in Maple Valley

MAPLE VALLEY, Wash. — The King County Sheriff’s Office is linking the death of a man early Friday at their precinct in Maple Valley to a Maple Valley woman who was found dead in her home Wednesday.

Sheriff’s Office spokesman Ryan Abbott said shortly before 2 a.m., dispatchers received a call from someone who said a man was coming to the Southeast Precinct and was possibly going to kill himself.

Deputies found a white SUV running outside the precinct in the 22300 block of Southeast 231st Street and a man nearby who was dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Deputies say the SUV is registered to Jason Howell, the husband of the recently deceased Maple Valley woman, Julia Howell.

The medical examiner will make the official identification of the man’s body.

Julia Howell was found dead in the home she shared with her husband Wednesday after she missed a appointment at a hair salon in Bellevue. Police said her death was suspicious.

Since Howell’s body was discovered, deputies have been trying to reach her husband without success.

The King County Sheriff’s Office has not called the husband a suspect in his wife’s death.
