SEATTLE — UPDATE Feb. 26, 2015: King County medical examiner confirms that the cause of death for Tan Nguyen is suicide by drowning.

A sad update to report in a missing persons case out of Bellevue.

Family members of Tan Nguyen, a man missing for weeks, confirm that his body has been found. Little details are known at this time.

The family releases this statement via social media "Tan's body was located yesterday. Our family would like to send our sincere gratification to everyone who helped us spread the words and lookout for him this past week. Your thoughts and condolence will help us cope with such great loss. To those who are affected and/or triggered by this tragedy because you know of Tan, our prayers are also with you. Please don't hesitate to message us anything you would like us to know."

KIRO 7 has reached out to both Bellevue and Seattle police for more information.

The family of the 20-year-old University of Washington student says he was never out of touch with his family, and was as dependable as clockwork.

The last time they saw Nguyen was when he was leaving his family's Bellevue home to take the B-Line Metro Transit but to school. When he didn't return home that evening, Nguyen's family searched for him, scanning areas from Bellevue to the UW campus.

Police in Bellevue and Seattle issued a missing person alerts for Nguyen. Last week, Seattle police told Nguyen's family they found his backpack—with all his school-related belongings---east of the 520 bridge near Montlake. They say the backpack didn't appear to be missing items, and it yielded no clues as to his whereabouts.

Nguyen's family described Tan as a "straight-A student" who didn't socialize much outside of his immediate family. They say there was no sign of depression or trouble in his life before last week. On the day he disappeared, they found Nguyen's cellphone in his bedroom, unused since he left home.

Bellevue and Seattle police say callers can share any information by calling 911.
