71 cats rescued from filthy home in Grant County

Many of the cats will need extensive medical care.

GRANT COUNTY, Wash. — More than 70 cats are being checked out by vets after they were rescued from filthy conditions.

A crew from Pasado's Safe Haven rescued the animals from a home in Grant County Monday.

The ammonia levels from cat urine in the home were so high that crewmembers had to wear hazmat suits.

Pasado’s said 71 cats and kittens were living in layers of garbage.

Many cats need extensive medical care.

It's not clear if charges will be filed against the homeowner.
