SEATTLE, Wash. — The Kraken are looking to keep the positive momentum going this season by acquiring right wing Matthew Wood from the Nashville Predators.
Wood, who debuted with the Predators in 2024, scored 17 goals during his full rookie season in 2025.
This season, Wood has one goal and two assists in 14 games.
“Matthew is a young forward who adds size and an elite shot to our group,” Kraken General Manager Jason Botterill said in a press release. “He’s a skilled player, with high hockey sense, who demonstrated his offensive potential last season as a rookie in the National Hockey League. We’re thrilled to welcome Matthew to Seattle and excited to see his impact on our team.”
In exchange for Wood, the Kraken have sent their former first round pick, Shane Wright, to Nashville.
Wright, who was drafted by the Kraken back in 2022, scored 19 goals in his first NHL season. While not a sharp decline in productivity, Wright scored just 12 in the entire 2025-2026 season, according to the Seattle Kraken.
Wright has three goals on the year, so far.
“We thank Shane for his contributions to our organization and the city of Seattle, and we wish him all the best in Nashville,” Botterill said in a press release.
