DENVER, Colo. — It’s ‘Throwback Thursday’ for the Seahawks, as they suit up in their sleek, classic uniforms for — what could be — a rough matchup against the Denver Broncos.
The Seahawks are once again dealing with a troubling running back room. While Emmanuel Wilson played well the last two weeks, George Holani has had serious ball control issues.
Holani had two costly fumbles in the Seahawks’ loss to the 49ers last Sunday. With Zach Charbonnet still not ready to return, Wilson and Holani must be on their A-game if the Seahawks want to win.
On the topic of costly mistakes, quarterback Sam Darnold has been rocky on his return tour. Darnold has a bottom-of-the-league quarterback rating (34.4), with just 755 yards and seven touchdowns. Not to mention, five interceptions in the four games he’s played.
It’s not all his fault. After all, Darnold has been sacked nine times. Whether that’s on offensive coordinator Brian Fleury figuring out his offense or the offensive line struggling with injuries, the Seahawks offense will need to start shaping up in order to be effective against a solid Broncos defense.
The defense is progressively getting back into shape, but the Seahawks will be down not one, but two linebackers Thursday -- Drake Thomas and Chazz Surratt.
With Thomas out, Tyrice Knight is the next man up. Knight, who joined the Seahawks back in 2024, has 147 total tackles over 37 games, according to ESPN.
Knight is a consistent player and should fill in well as starting linebacker.
Injuries aside, the Seahawks must begin to solidify their offense if they want any chance to beat the Broncos.
Like the past three weeks, the team has to establish their run game, if they want any chance to succeed. Add in some diverse play calls, solid pass protection, and firm ball control, and the Seahawks should take down the Broncos with ease.
The Seahawks face the Broncos in Denver Thursday at 5:15 p.m. PT.
