On the Fourth of July, people from across Western Washington came to Lake Union or watched on TV to see the area's biggest fireworks show.
But, there was a problem at the beginning of the show that left people watching without the choreographed music for three minutes.
So, what happened?
According to engineers at the park:
The music for the fireworks came from a computer. That computer fed several amps. Those amps were supposed to pump the music to speakers throughout Gas Works Park and to KIRO 7.
The audio system was powered by a generator. Just as the fireworks began, a 100-amp circuit breaker tripped, cutting power to the system. Engineers say the system was drawing more power than the breaker could supply.
The engineers at the park fixed the problem, and three minutes later, the sound was back and lasted through the end of the fireworks show.
