Viewers asking how to donate blood after Seattle shooting

In the wake of the recent Seattle shooting, KIRO 7 has had viewers reach out to us asking where they can donate blood.

This time of year, local blood banks tend to be in short supply. The recent bad weather has also been an issue. Bloodworks Northwest is at emergency levels. The organization estimates it has lost around 1,000 donations because the winter weather made it difficult for people to travel.

If you would like to donate blood, you can find donation locations and make an appointment at schedule.bloodworksnw.org or text bloodapp to 91985.

Usually within 24 hours, your blood is available in local hospitals.
