Zuri Craig, ‘America’s Got Talent’ finalist in 2015, dead at 44

Zuri Craig, a singer who was a finalist on the reality television show “America’s Got Talent” in 2015, died Friday, his family announced. He was 44.

Craig’s family confirmed his death on his Instagram page. No cause of death was given, Deadline reported.

“It is with profound sadness that we announce the transition of our beloved son, brother and friend, Zuri Craig,” the singer’s family wrote. “We thank you in advance for your prayers. Please honor our privacy during this unimaginable time of mourning.”

Craig was a hit on “America’s Got Talent” when he finished fifth, according to Deadline. He teamed with singing partner Jeffrey Lewis to create the Atlanta-based group, The CraigLewis Band.

The duo made an impression with versions of James Brown’s “This Is a Man’s World,” and later received a gold buzzer from Michael Bublé after performing a strong performance of Mary J. Blige’s “I’m Goin’ Down,” according to Entertainment Weekly.

Craig also worked on Tyler Perry’s “Madea’s Big Happy Family,” “Madea Gets a Job” and “A Madea Christmas,” Deadline reported.

Craig’s family said that more details will be shared at a later date, the entertainment news website reported.
