LUBBOCK, Texas — A Texas couple is behind bars after officials discovered injuries to the pair's infant daughter and methamphetamine in their toddler son's system.
According to KCBD and the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, Alexzandria Sellers, 25, and Oscar Gonzales, 29, of Lubbock, were arrested Wednesday on child endangerment and child injury charges. They are being held on $40,000 bond each, the Avalanche-Journal reported.
Authorities began investigating the couple July 20 after a Covenant Children's Hospital doctor treated the pair's 3-month-old baby girl for clavicle and femur fractures, according to the newspaper. The doctor believed that the injuries had not occurred accidentally, the news outlets reported. Investigators also said the child appeared to be underweight.
Authorities later determined that Sellers and Gonzales failed to seek immediate medical help for the girl after Gonzalez pinned the baby's arms back and forced her into a seated position, according to the news outlets.
Drug tests also revealed that Sellers and the couple's 2-year-old son had methamphetamine in their systems, authorities said.
Both children are now in foster care, the Avalanche-Journal reported.
