Legendary actor Sean Connery died overnight Saturday in his sleep, his family confirmed Saturday.
The 90-year-old Scottish actor was best known for his iconic portrayal of James Bond, and he starred as the character in seven of the franchise’s films between 1962 and 1983.
Connery’s son, Jason Connery, told the BBC his father had been "unwell for some time.”
“A sad day for all who knew and loved my dad and a sad loss for all people around the world who enjoyed the wonderful gift he had as an actor,” said Jason Connery.
Hollywood actors, producers and fans shared memories and condolences via social media.
