Recall alert: Popular baby bath seat recalled amid drowning concerns

A popular infant bath seat sold exclusively on Amazon is being recalled amid drowning concerns raised by regulatory authorities.

The BATTOP foldable infant bath seats “fail to meet the federal safety standard for infant bath seats, including requirements for stability, and can tip over while in use, posing a drowning hazard to babies,” the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission stated in the recall alert issued Thursday.

The recall affects about 5,000 of the seats, model BB2206, sold exclusively by the online retailer between July 2020 and October 2020 for about $40 each. The foldable plastic seats are white with blue, green or gray restraint bars.

The commission has received no reports to date of injuries or fatalities linked to the recall and recommended halting use of the seats immediately and contacting the company for a refund.

The affected chairs were manufactured by Dongguan, China-based Dongguan Babycare Products Co. and imported by BATTOP. Consumers may contact the company via email at service@battop.net
