The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced that more than 1,770,000 attic ladders were recalled. The bolts can break while it is being used, posing a fall risk.
The recall affects Louisville, Featherlite, Lite & Century Attic Stairway Ladders that have gas struts. They were sold in various sizes for different attic openings, including 22.5, 25.5 and 30 inches wide and 54 or 60 inches long.
They were sold at Home Depot, Lowe’s, Do It Best, Orgill, and other stores nationwide, as well as online on Amazon, from November 2012 to July 2026 for between $170 and $600.
There have been 11 reports of a bolt breaking, with one resulting in an injury.
If you have the recalled ladders, you should not use them and register them online to get a free repair kit. You will need the model number, which is on the inside of the attic door.
