An online learning system for students across North Carolina crashed on the first day of school Monday as the number of students trying to log in overwhelmed the system.
Officials with Moore County Schools announced around 9:15 a.m. that state’s NCEdCloud system was “experiencing technical issues across the state making it difficult for some staff and students to log in.” NCEdCloud is used to access PowerSchool, an app used to maintain student records and manage school processes, and Canvas, a tool used to summarize assignments and announcements, according to WSOC-TV.
NCEdCloud, the system used to access PowerSchool and Canvas, is experiencing technical issues across the state making it difficult for some staff and students to log in. NCDPI IT teams are aware of the issue and are working to resolve it.

The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction's IT team managed to restore the system just before 11:50 a.m., school district officials said.

More than 2,500 public schools and more than 180 charter schools are serviced by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, including thousands of students.
