According to The Associated Press, the DOJ is asking the appeals court to overturn the appointment of the special master, Raymond Dearie over the review of the documents seized from Mar-A-Lago on Friday.

The special master was assigned last month by a judge to look over and inspect the thousands of documents that the FBI seized when they searched former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago property, according to the AP. The special master was to go through and take out anything from the investigation that may be protected under legal privilege.

According to the AP, the process for the special master has caused some delays in the DOJ’s investigation, but one of the hurdles was cleared up when the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit lifted a temporary bar on the DOJ’s ability to use the seized classified documents.

The AP said that move allowed for a “core aspect of the probe to resume,” which would reduce the chances that the special master process would impact have on the investigation.

DOJ lawyers on Friday asked for the court Friday to shut down the entire special master review, according to the AP.
