Louisiana man accused of impersonating cop pulls over off-duty deputy

Vincent Marks, 27, of Plaquemine, is accused of pulling over an off-duty deputy for a traffic stop on June 10, Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post.

Marks was arrested Monday on a felony count of impersonating a peace officer, The Advocate of Baton Rouge reported.

According to authorities, an off-duty deputy with the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office was driving near Bayou Come and had resumed traveling after traffic had been stopped by a collision, the newspaper reported.

A vehicle allegedly driven by Marks got behind the deputy and began flashing his headlights, according to the sheriff’s office’s Facebook post. The deputy turned into a convenience store parking lot, with Marks pulling up behind and blocking him in, Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon said in a statement.

Marks “presented a badge to the deputy and represented himself as being a police officer,” the sheriff’s office wrote on Facebook. However, the deputy recognized Marks as being a party to a domestic incident in Pierre Part earlier this year, the sheriff’s office said.

Marks was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center and later posted $10,000 bail, The Advocate reported.
