Foo Fighters’ Taylor Hawkins to be honored by Queen, the Police, Motley Crue in tribute concerts

The Foo Fighters’ Taylor Hawkins, who died on March 25, will be honored by Queen, the Police, Motley Crue and many other acts in two tribute concerts in the fall.

The Associated Press said tribute concerts are planned for September 3 at Wembley Stadium in London and September 27 at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California.

Both concerts will include Miley Cyrus, Liam Gallagher, Joan Jett, Mark Ronson, members of Queen, the Police, Rush, Kiss, the Pretenders, Motley Crue, Queens of the Stone Age, Rage Against the Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Supergrass, and Dave Chappelle according to the AP.

The plans for the concerts were released last week by the Foo Fighters on Instagram. They didn’t announce the lineups until Wednesday of this week. However, more additions to the lineups are expected. Tickets go on sale on June 17 for both shows.

“The Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concerts will benefit charities in both the US and UK chosen by the Hawkins family. Beneficiaries and further details will be announced shortly,” the Foo Fighters said on Instagram Wednesday.

Both concerts will also feature Stewart Copeland, Geddy Lee, Brian May, Roger Taylor, Chris Chaney, Wolfgang Van Halen, Alex Lifeson, Hawkins’ cover band Chevy Metal and the other members of the Foo Fighters, according to the AP.

The London concert will include Gallagher, Jett, Chrissie Hynde, Supergrass and special appearance by Dave Chappelle. The show in California will include Cyrus, Gene Simmons, Alanis Morissette, Nikki Sixx and Luke Spiller, according to the Foo Fighters.

Taylor diedon March 25 in South America while on tour at the age of 50. The AP says he joined the Foo Fighters in 1997 — first supporting them on tour and then on their album, “The Colour & The Shape.”
