“There was some type of altercation in the drive thru of the Wendy’s at which time the report came in that there were shots fired,” Hallandale Beach Police Capt. Megan Jones told the TV station, noting interviews are still being conducted to get “the overall picture of what happened.”

Responding officers found three dead victims, all with apparent gunshot wounds, WPLG reported.

Jones confirmed to the TV station that the victims, all three of whom appeared to be adults, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Several hours after the incident, a black Kia Optima and a silver Hyundai Sonata that appeared to have been involved in a collision were towed away from the scene, WPLG reported.

The identities of the victims have not been made public, but police did confirm that none of the deceased appeared to be Wendy’s employees, ABC News reported.

“We don’t believe that there is anyone out there intending to do additional harm to the public,” Jones said.
