CVS said that the hours would be adjusted at about two-thirds of the nearly 9,000 locations in the U.S. starting in March, USA Today reported.

The hours will vary store-to-store and will happen during low demand or when there’s only one pharmacist.

There has been a shortage of pharmacists for months that is affecting businesses, however, CVS Pharmacy’s lead director of external communications Amy Thibault said that the company reviews pharmacy hours periodically to ensure they are open during times of high demand.

Walmart is also adjusting pharmacy hours, and instead of being open until 9 p.m. at most of its stores will have the pharmacy department open until 7 p.m., The Wall Street Journal reported.

The company cited a better work-life balance for employees with the ability to best serve customers, according to The Wall Street Journal.

“This change is a direct result of feedback from our pharmacy associates and listening to our customers,” a company spokesperson said to the newspaper.

Walgreens announced last year that it was changing some hours of operation, CNN reported.

On Friday the company said, “at times had to adjust store or pharmacy hours at some of our locations as we work to balance staffing and resources in the market to best meet our patient and customer demand,” CNN reported.
