Roger Federer and his wife, Mirka, are donating more than $1 million to Swiss families in need amid the coronavirus pandemic.

According to Sports Illustrated and CNN, the tennis star announced in an Instagram post Wednesday that the pair is donating 1 million Swiss Francs – or about $1.03 million U.S. – to help “the most vulnerable families in Switzerland."

”Our contribution is just a start," Federer, 38, wrote. “We hope that others might join in supporting more families in need. Together we can overcome this crisis! Stay healthy!”

According to Johns Hopkins University, Federer’s native Switzerland had reported 11,027 coronavirus cases and 154 deaths as of Thursday morning.
