Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones arrested in Texas

AUSTIN — Far-right radio host and conspiracy theorist Alex Jones was arrested in Austin, Texas, on a misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated, authorities said Tuesday.

The 46-year-old was booked into an Austin jail shortly after midnight and released on bail a few hours later, Travis County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kristen Dark said.

He was charged with a class B misdemeanor, according to KVUE.

Jones, as the Austin-based host of Infowars.com, has a long history of pushing wild conspiracy theories, such as how the U.S. government perpetrated the 9/11 attacks or how the Sandy Hook Elementary School Mass shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, was a hoax.

An article posted on his website said Jones discussed the arrest on his show Tuesday and claimed that his blood-alcohol level was under the legal limit of 0.08 percent.
