BEDFORD, N.H. — Eugene Mirman, a voice actor on the “Bob’s Burgers” animated television series, was hospitalized with serious injuries on Tuesday after he was pulled from a fiery car crash at a New Hampshire toll plaza.

Mirman, 51, voices the character of Gene Belcher on “Bob’s Burgers.”

According to a news release from the New Hampshire State Police, a 2026 Lucid Gravity driven by Mirman amd traveling north on the F.E. Everett Turnpike struck the Bedford toll plaza at 11:55 a.m. ET on Tuesday. Callers to 911 told dispatchers that the vehicle had caught fire and one person was trapped inside.

As units were responding, a state trooper assigned to New Hampshire Gov. Kelly Ayotte’s security team arrived at the scene, WGME reported.

The trooper was able to pull Mirman through a window to safety, the state police said. The governor and other witnesses at the scene provided assistance.

The name of the trooper is being withheld due to the nature of their position, state police said.

“Certainly, their actions were heroic in what they did,” Col. Mark B. Hall said in a statement. “Without hesitation, they put themselves in danger to render aid to someone who was in need of it.”

Mirman expressed gratitude to the people who saved him, the Los Angeles Times reported. His injuries are described as serious but not non-life-threatening, according to WGME.

In a post on X, Ayotte also expressed thanks.

“I want to thank the Trooper on my security detail and the bystanders who stepped up to help at the scene of the crash for their brave lifesaving efforts today,” the governor wrote. “Joe and I are praying for the full recovery of the driver who was injured today.”

Mirman, who was born in Moscow and currently lives in New York City, has starred as the middle child of Bob and Linda Belcher on “Bob’s Burgers” since the series began in 2011, The New York Times reported.

According to the actor’s official website, Mirman has also appeared on “Flight of the Conchords,” “Delocated,” “Archer,” “Broad City” and more.

No charges have been filed in connection with the crash, but the investigation is ongoing, state police said.
