Back home: Biden’s dogs Major, Champ return to Delaware after ‘biting incident’; officials say they will return

WASHINGTON — The first pets, Major and Champ, have returned home to Delaware after what is being called aggressive behavior displayed by the younger of the two presidential pets.

Major, a 3-year-old rescued German shepherd, was part of what was being called a “biting incident” with a member of White House security. No details were released on how severe the incident was or when exactly it happened, CNN reported.

Major has also been jumping, barking and charging at staff and security, CNN reported.

Champ, 13, and Major were moved from the family’s residence in Wilmington, Delaware, to the White House days after President Joe Biden’s inauguration, the BBC reported.

First lady Jill Biden shared some of the challenges the dogs faced with such a move when she appeared on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” last month.

“They have to take the elevator, they’re not used to that, and they have to go out on the South Lawn with lots of people watching them. So that’s what I’ve been obsessed with, getting everybody settled and calm,” Jill Biden said, according to CNN.

The dogs’ relocation is not out of the ordinary, as they will stay back at the family’s home when the first lady is out of town, The New York Times reported. She is traveling to military bases in Washington and California this week.

Officials told NBC News that the dogs will return to the White House.
