MARSHALL, Ark. — An Arkansas police chief has resigned after posting social media calls for violence against Democrats.
Marshall Chief of Police Lang Holland resigned his position Saturday after posting inflammatory comments, including calling for Democrats to be killed, sharing memes promoting QAnon conspiracy theories and claiming the presidential election has been stolen.
“Death to all Marxist Democrats,” Holland posted on new social media site Parler. “Take no prisoners leave no survivors!!”
According to CNN, Holland also shared an image depicting a group of Democrats that included Hillary Clinton and former President Barack Obama, all wearing prison jumpsuits.
“I pray all those in that picture hang on the gallows and are drawn and quartered!!!! Anything less is not acceptable,” Holland captioned the picture, CNN reported.
According to KTLO, Holland posted on Parler on Friday that should anyone encounter a “Marxist Democrat,” they should “not give them any peace. Throw water on them at restaurants. Push them off sidewalks. Never let them forget they are traitors and have no right to live in this Republic after what they had done.”
The Parler posts have since been recycled on both Twitter and Reddit, CNN reported.
Marshall Mayor Kevin Elliott issued a statement Saturday confirming that Holland had resigned from his position, effective immediately.
“The City of Marshall strongly condemns the actions of Mr. Holland in his posts to social media. … The Marshall community does not in any way support or condone bullying or threats of violence to anyone of any political persuasion. ... The Marshall Police force is here to serve and protect EVERYONE,” Elliott stated.
