Alabama man sentenced to 496 years in prison for sodomy, attempted rape

BAY MINETTE, Ala. — An Alabama man convicted of multiple sex crimes involving children was sentenced to 496 years in prison, prosecutors said Wednesday.

Thomas Justin Bailey, 33, of Foley, was convicted Oct. 27 of four counts of sodomy in the first degree, three counts of sodomy in the second degree and one count of attempted rape.

Baldwin County Circuit Judge Clark Stankoski sentenced Bailey to 99 years for each count of first-degree sodomy and 20 years for each conviction of sodomy in the second degree, WKRG reported. All of the victims were under the age of 12, the television station reported.

According to the Baldwin County District Attorney’s Office, the victims’ friends alerted school guidance counselors of the crimes, which led to an investigation, WKRG reported.

“The District Attorney’s Office would like to thank the victims in this case for their bravery in coming to court to confront their abuser and telling the truth so that their abuser can be brought to justice,” the district attorney’s office stated in a news release.

Foley police and the Baldwin County Department of Human Resources investigated the case, WKRG reported.
