$25K worth Apple products stolen in less than 24 hours, police say

WAUWATOSA, Wisc. — Police are still trying to find three men who they said stole about $17,000 worth of Apple products from Apple stores at two Wisconsin malls on the same day, while on the next day another $8,392 worth of Apple products were stolen.

Wauwatosa police said three men were captured on security video stuffing their pants and jackets full of Apple watches, trackpads and high-tech pencils, WISN reported.

Another recording showed an Apple store employee holding a tray of AirPods and one of the alleged thieves grabbing four boxes from the tray and then running from the store.

WISN reported $6,072 worth of inventory was taken in the Jan 30 heist at Mayfair Mall, including:

  • 8 Apple Watches
  • 9 Apple Pencils
  • 4 Apple AirPods
  • 5 Magic trackpads

In the Bayshore Mall incident the same day, $10,958 worth of items were taken, including:

  • 17 Apple Watches
  • 14 Magic trackpads
  • 1 Apple Pencil

Police believe a separate incident on Jan. 31 at Mayfair Mall was unrelated to the previous day’s thefts. In the second case at Mayfair Mall, eight iPhones were stolen, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. They were valued at $8,392.

In less than 24 hours, $25,422 worth of Apple-branded products were taken in the three theft cases, the Journal Sentinel reported.
