GREENVILLE, Texas — Authorities arrested a 23-year-old man Monday after a shooting at an unofficial Texas A&M Commerce homecoming party left two people dead and several injured over the weekend.
Update 4:30 p.m. EDT Oct. 28: Hunt County Sheriff Randy Meeks said authorities arrested a 23-year-old man early Monday on suspicion of murder in connection to Sunday's early morning shooting.
Meeks said Brandon Gonzalez was cooperating with investigators following his arrest, though the sheriff said he did not admit to the shooting.
"He has told us he was there," Meeks said. "We do know that much."
Deputies said that as of Monday, they had yet to recover the weapon used in the shooting.
Authorities do not believe Gonzalez was attending the party at Texas A&M Commerce as a guest. Meeks said investigators believe Gonzalez targeted at least one of the 12 people who had been shot.
Of the victims who remained hospitalized Monday, only one was listed in critical condition, Meeks said.
Meeks said authorities don't believe Sunday morning's shooting was connected to a separate shooting reported at a vigil for the victims held later Sunday.
A judge arraigned Gonzalez on Monday and set his bond at $1 million, Meeks said.
Authorities continue to investigate.

A university spokesperson said "a non-sanctioned homecoming party" was being held at the time, WFAA reporter Jobin Panicker tweeted.

The Hunt County Sheriff's Office said the shooting left two people dead and at least 14 others injured, KXAS and KTVT reported.
Authorities said the shooter remains at large, WFAA reported.
In a tweet early Sunday, Texas A&M Commerce police acknowledged that there was an "event" near Greenville "that may or may not have involved students." The department also refuted an earlier report that the shooting had occurred in Commerce.
There has been no active shooter situation in Commerce. There was an event outside Greenville, TX that may or not have involved students at this time. Further information will be posted when known.
