A burglary suspect was shot in Thurston County after police said the suspect attacked the homeowner in the kitchen.
The incident happened about 11:30 a.m. Friday on Tennis Court Southwest.
The suspect was shot once in the chest and taken to St. Peter's Hospital. He’s expected to survive.
Police said the suspect is a transient and was eating stolen food from the home when the homeowner told him to leave. The homeowner tried to close a sliding door when investigators said he was attacked.
Police said the homeowner beat the suspect with a pole, then reached for his gun that was holstered to his ankle.
